A Wiki for your organization: Why and How?

So you think you want a wiki… Now what?

Check out the slides(external link) (PDF)

Think of encyclopedia Britannica, a reference for well over 100 years. In less than 10 years, Wikipedia has become the most important volunteer collaborative project in the history of humanity. Wikipedia has challenged the concepts of management and dissemination of knowledge.

How can wikis help or affect your industry/organization?

  • What is a wiki exactly and what distinguishes it from other tools?
  • Baby-boomers will soon retire in droves: How can a wiki help you capture and manage this collective intelligence?
  • The other generations (X, Y, etc) and their expectations of collaboration and a Web environment
  • Culture shift: when all can participate, how business rules and hierarchy are affected
  • Success and failure factors when implementing a wiki
  • Picking a technology and how to find resources

Will you be the next Wikipedia or the next Britannica?
