    hi,

    after I upgraded from 1.8.5 to 1.9, now visitors are not able to register on the site. They get an error saying the passwords don't match. I tried it myself and it gives me the same error.

    Please tell me how I can correct this error.

    restore the backup of the 1.8.5 site and try the passwords.

    The run the upgrade routine to 1.9 again.

    user authentication didnt change between releases, so the upgrade script must have got a little wild in its execution.

    people who have registered can login easily - so the passwords are not lost.

    its only that new users can't register - they are given the error saying passwords don't match.

    one problem I seem to have had on upgrading to 1.9 - I suspect that the SQL script did not run completely. I tried running it in parts using PhpMyadmin, but that didn't work. I have however 194 tables in the database and the basic site functions properly.

    is there anything I can do?
