PHP within Apache served scripts via CGI

Hi everyone.

(I am quite new to PHP and the way Tiki works so I am sorry if this is a stupid question.)

I have an account in a Linux system (I am not root) and I would like to set up a TikiWiki site. I have my own Postgres database but according to the administrator, PHP can only be used in my machine within Apache served scripts via CGI. I don't really understand what the implications of this are. Will I still be able to install and use a TikiWiki site in this context? If so, how?

Thanks for any help!

Best,
Pedro.

Hi Pedro, I think you answer is NO!

Check out these posts.

CGiWRAP install 80% success, 20%agony

Rescue Tiki Install!

site becomes unusable (CGI?)

Also it might be an idea to check out TikiFriendlyHosts

Hope that helps, James

Hi

Not successfully as the memory_limit bug art82 will rear its head no matter what memory_limit is set to as PHP is loaded into that memory as well as the scripts running, this is very common with 1and1 hosting and they cause many many headaches for people.

Your much better choosing a TikiFriendlyHost
