Can TikiWiki track changes by user?

Hello good people,

I looked through the features list and scoured the forums a little, but could not find an answer to my question. A little background:

My professor wants to use a Wiki for his class. He wants to have students contribute to the class Wiki with new information, changes, etc. He wants to measure a student's participation / contribution to new class material with this method. So, what I need to find is a Wiki that allows me to track the changes by each user. Does TikiWiki allow this?

Ideally, the Wiki I'm looking for would allow the administrator to log in, head over to a list of users, and, by clicking on each user, the administrator would be able to see the changes that each user has incorporated into the Wiki.

Can TikiWiki do this?

Thank you for your time, guys.

Best,
Fil

I believe, this is the wrong way to handle this. Ideally, what you are looking for might be something like a LMS, basically a Wiki/CMS targeted for learning environments. A good candidate to look at would be the popular "Moodle". Also in PHP.

BUT, on the other hand, there is a nice way to handle it in TikiWiki. If your professor is using the wiki only for his students, all users are automatically "his students". In TikiWiki you can enable a point system. Points are assigned to users in a defineable way. E.g. you can define, that studenst gain points by modifying a wiki entry (e.g. 3 points for each modification, 5 for a complete new page, etc.) and for forum entries, etc. This way, students with a high activity gain a lot of points and you see this directly in the "star" rating below each users name (e.g. here in the forum).

I haven't played around with this feature a lot, so I can't tell whether there is e.g. a statistics page listing all users sorted by activity (this is something you probably would need the most), but maybe others can help here.

Best regards,

Bernhard

Hi Fil and Bernhard:

The answer is YES! (on 1.10+) (I'm proud top say so)
I needed this same funcionality you're talking about, and we had sylvieg coding it. It's working already, after a full year of work.
See some results (in catalan, but figures are figures... :-)

See:
http://edu.tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=ProjecteXavi

Search for "Action log", and "Contribution" on http://doc.tikiwiki.org

And the best: use this feature in conjunction with Workspaces (from AulaWiki Mod for 1.9.x sites, or installed as base - core - feature on 1.10+ sites)

Cheers, and welcome to http://edu.tikiwiki.org ! :-) (join us there)
