Menu Divisions

Hi everyone,

I wondered if anyone would be able to give ma advice regarding the menu setup. I've been creating a custom menu using the admin menus page, following the documentation on the website. However, when I try to create a second level of links I find I encounter some problems. Admittedly I'm new to TikiWiki so it's quite possible that I've missed something obvious. The layout I'm hoping to achieve in the section is:

Section
Main Option 1
Sub option 1
Sub option 2
Main Option 2
Sub option 1
Sub option 2

Is this possible?

Many thanks in advance.

Yes, from Tiki 1.9.7, I believe. For that setup, you'd make a dynamic collapsed type menu and use these menu item types:

section level 0
   section level 1
      option
      option
   section level 1
      option
      option

The sublevels are a new enhancement and I haven't checked on this specifically, but I think that's the right configuration. The sublevels only work with PHP Layers menus, though, not with standard menus, so be sure to specify PHP Layers menu when you put the menu in a module, or use the phplayers tag if you put the menu in a template. I'm not sure if the "preview" — the menu that is displayed in the center column of the admin menu page as you are working on the menu — will reflect the sublevels either (one thing I do know is that the docs on this need to be updated wink).

Tellivision, if Gary's comments solved your question/need, could you please help us improving the docs, so that it's clearer for new users?

Thanks in advanced! wink

On rechecking, it looks like sublevels aren't in 1.9.7. I've very sorry if I caused people to be frustrated trying to figure out how to implement them with that Tiki version. To have the sublevels, download a 1.9.8 CVS snapshot from http://de.tikiwiki.org or wait for the official release, which should be in a few weeks.
