Calendar?

Does the calendar feature work yet?

I followed the steps for installation, and Calendar is now showing in the admin and TIKI menus, but no calendar. Do I need some additional plugins or code?

Thanks,
-AP

I seem to remember a similar problem when I first started with the Calendar and I think I had to go to Admin/Calendar and create one.

Be aware the Tiki Calendar has some flaws that make it difficult for end users to use and admins to administer.

-Time is default to 24 hr time and you have to edit the calendar and add event template code to fix that.

-Pop up hours are always 24hr time with no apparent cure.

-If you are in a different time zone than your server your time will often be off by the number of time zones that separate you. I have found no way to set an offset into tiki to prevent this.

-If you enter edit mode after you have created an event it will reset your time to AM and put your hour off by whatever the difference is between your time and server time -i.e. if you edit anything you always have to re-enter the time. Enabling Js calendar does nothing to fix this.

I am using the Calendar feature but it is quite tedious to have to be constantly alert for all these things. I am hoping to find an off-tiki calendar to somehow display on a page on my tiki site. Google has one you can integrate in Tiki but then only one person can contribute events to it (as far as I know.)

How do I create a calendar? All the screens: Admin/Calendar, Wiki > Calendar, Features are all blank - no "create" button - or did you mean directly in the DB?

pidan, blank screens mean (usually) too little memory_limit in php.ini issues in your server. You need at least 16 Mb in there. Search the http://doc.tikiwiki.org/faq6 and Documentation if needed for more help.

And there was a bug in jscalendar that modified the time when you edit a calendar item, but without jscalendar feature worked for me. And some coders reported to have fixed jscalendar in 1.9.8 code...

Ok, confirmed 16M is the limit

Any other possible cause or problem?

max_execution_time = 30 ; Maximum execution time of each script, in seconds
max_input_time = 60 ; Maximum amount of time each script may spend parsing request data
memory_limit = 16M ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume
