Tiki cannot find a database connection

posts: 4

I know I have setup a database and all. I have used phpMyadmin to check everything. I have inserted all the info on the database and still nothing.
Is there anything I am overlooking? I have tried looking for a relevant message but none seems to work.

Thanks

Firstly I would check the settings in your db/local.php or db/tiki-db.php to make sure they match with your database you can access through phpMyAdmin.

Well the source from db/local.php is correct. I have tried screwing around with it. but nothing changes. the tiki-index.php still gets :-DB Error: connect failed.

And when I try db/tiki-db.php I get this error message:
Fatal error: Failed opening required 'DB.php' (include_path='.:/php/includes:/usr/share/php:lib/pear') in /var/www/html/tiki/db/tiki-db.php on line 13

I just don't know whats going on.

"Tiki cannot find a database connection "

I get the same result when trying to install tiki.

I know these things:
I am running on RH Linux, version 9. something
I downloaded the latest release
The database is there
The password is correct
Localhost connection works from apache under
another application.

Same with me. I am running of rh too. Did the setup.sh not work right for you either? My administrator took a peek at it and said that all it did was make sure the directories and stuff were chmod right. And he said that I should be able to use the prog.
:-( I really want this programs so I can setup my anime site.

Mine is fixed.
I had granted permission like this:

grant all privileges on tiki.* to myuser@'%' identified by 'mypw';

grant all privileges on tiki.* to myuser@localhost identified by 'mypw';

Then it worked perfectly.....

Good, if this fixes hjb's problem too, one of you should make sure that one can solve the problem looking at InstallTroubleshootingDoc

Ok for those who care (Chealer9 don't care so he has to say something retarded like "check the faq" like I did not read it 5 times already)
Mysql will only allow so many incorrect logins before freezing. So you may need to flush mysql.

hjb, Do you understand english? Chealer was only suggesting that if you manage to fix the problem you were facing, it would be a good thing for you (or the other person who also solved it) to write the same in InstallTroubleshootingDoc page so it might be useful for others who, in the future, might run across this.

Is this the way you reply to someone who, even if hadn't directly helped you, told you to help others?? By saying the other person doesn't care and calling his/her reply 'retarded', I am not sure any one will be willing to come to your help in the future, lest you brand their replies retarded too.

Thanks, Damian, for that advice. I checked the local.php file, and for some reason, it had encrypted (or at least it looked like that) my db user entry. I just replaced the "encrypted" info with the "real" info and got right past that error message.
