Tiki was not able to send a test eMail during install [Closed]

Hi,
when installing Tiki on Ubuntu / XAMPP,
I don't pass prerequisites because of this PhP mail function test failing.
In my Xampp errorlog, I read : sh: /usr/sbin/sendmail: not found.
Indeed, it doesn't exist ...

What did I miss ?

Thanks,

Fred

It shouldn't matter, the sending of mail is just a test. If the test fails you can still go ahead and install Tiki.

Are you saying that it refuses to install? This really should be optional, I'm almost certain that it shouldn't matter if it is working or not, to install Tiki.

Thank you Darkbee, I was worried, but indeed, it passes the install. I hope it won't be a problem later.

Now it looks like my tiki_users table is empty. I can't log in ...
Any idea ?

Thanks,

Fred

Have you already created new users? From a fresh install there is only one default user: Admin (I think the password is Admin).

As Xavi said, check out the documentation, that should help.

For what it's worth, I did once successfully install Tiki on Ubuntu using Xampp. I found an excellent thread on the Ubuntu forums about installing Xampp. I'll see if I can find it again.

read the documentation about Installation and search at doc.tw.o for ubuntu (there used to be a page with the names of the minimum packages that you needed).

Please, install apache2 and others from the repositories (to get all dependencies satisfied automagically) instead of xampp. This is way much easier (for many users) than going the xampp way.

Hope this helps

Xavi
