Login integration with Joomla?

We're developing a new intranet site in Joomla, but would like to use Tikiwiki for employee reference material and ticket tracker system. Security does need to be maintained, but I'd like to know if this is possible without requiring a separate login for Tikiwiki after logging into Joomla. I've come across Token Access, and the description in the docs sounds intriguing but I can't find any information as to what it is exactly or how it's used. I've turned on Token Access and tried out the 'Tell A Friend,' which works fine, but that's not what I need. Can anyone shed any light on this topic?

I've also started looking into the code to see if it's possible to have someone log into both systems simultaneously. I already wrote a new Joomla login module for LDAP authentication, so modifying it further shouldn't be a problem. Perhaps a CURL call to tiki-login_scr.php or something, if whatever permissions get set in Tikiwiki will persist through a Joomla session. But I probably am not the first person to try this. Has anyone already done this?

Hi,

perhabs you could check the Tiki code related to bigbluebutton.

When you look to http://tiki.org/live, you will see that bbb is integrated into the Tiki authentication.

I do not know who coded that and how it´s done (I am not a coder myself).

As you seem to be familiar with coding stuff, perhabs you´ll find out.

What I do not understand, is why you do not do the hole project with Tiki. I mean, you are talking of a just starting project and not an existing Joomla! Site.

Anyway - integration between projects seems always a good thing. So I wish you all the best.

Hi!

A feature request for integration with Joomla! was posted here: http://dev.tiki.org/wish2166

I think tightly integrating features would be a lot of work and hard to maintain. But there could be loose exchange of data between the apps (ex.: RSS) and a common login.

Tiki supports many: http://doc.tiki.org/External+Authentication

There is even one for phpBB: http://doc.tiki.org/phpBB+Authentication

Token Access (as currently implemented) is not what you are looking for:
http://doc.tiki.org/Token+Access

If you could make something similar for Joomla!, it would be awesome. Please do share back these enhancements:

Best regards,

M ;-)
