Re: Re: Printing Tiki Documentation
Comments on this topic of enabling print on sites with large document collections.
First, there is still a bug in the tiki-print_pages routine of tikilib when printing wiki pages with nested TOC and MAKETOC syntax. I have described the fix for that in other postings.
One site I maintain builds to a single document using structure-related pages. We create a monthly PDF file - currently at 719 pages - for download by the users, but also offer the ability to multiple-print the live docs as well. Our experience is that most users just download the PDFs rather than mess with tiki's multiple-print feature and making a local PDF file print.
You can see this at http://n1mm.hamdocs.com
Look in the >Files section for info about downloaded PDFs, and the >Documents section for the multiple-print feature.
This project has grown over the past year, and has almost doubled in size. We have abandoned two ISPs ( 1and1.com, GoDaddy.com ) that could not provide enough server horsepower and user memory needed to Multiple-Print the single doc. Oh, and ignore what your >PHPINFO screen tells you, those ISPs throttle the parms in their back rooms and your actual resources are much lower.
