problem modifying structure

using tiki 10.2
I have a structure which i have been using fine since around tiki 7 I think
recently upgraded to to tiki 7
I cannot now:
- modify page position by dragging from one location to another in the structure
- modify a page alias by typing the alias in the field within the structure
a 'save' button appears correctly after doing the above but clicking on the button causes the page to dim temporarily and then reappear without the changes having ben saved.
there's doesn't seem to be another way of modifying these things?
any ideas of what might be causing the problem? it works fine on the tiki demo.
