Cannot see images in Wiki page when the image source is URL

Hello

I created a wiki page and inserted some HTML using the
Copy to clipboard
option. This works well and displays the in the page correctly, However I notice is their is an image in the html who's source is another URL (e.g. not my image gallery) then it just displays a place holder where the image should be together with a symbol of a circle with a diagonal line through it.

Is there a setting somewhere in the admin control panel (cannot find one at the moment) which says show images in Wiki pages which are external to the site e.g. sourced from another URL.

As I want to be able to copy and paste some information in to my wiki pages and not have to spend lots of time downloading each image from the original source, placing in my image gallery then updating all the links.

Thanks all in advance
Ernie

hi Emie.
i can't see the html code you used, but you do not need to use html. Using wiki syntax for images (see the documentation about it at https://doc.tiki.org ) you can use external images.
To ease your task, you might copy paste in wysywyg mode while saving syntax in wiki.
Cheers

Hello xavi and thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my query.

I will check out the document you refer to.

Sorry I only half explained, let me clarify a little

sometimes I will be looking around the WEB and come across an article of interest on some web site. The article my be several pages long and contain several images.

Now in the past I would add the page to my favourites or copy and paste the article into a work document and save for latter reference.

However what I like to do is add the article to my personal wiki so over time as I will have more items from all over the web all in one easy to find place.

Now although I can add a URL link to the original article I would rather add to my wiki so I know I always have a copy if the original is not longer available in the future.

So no problem from the original article on the web I take a copy of the HTML source code (text tables images etc.) I then create a new page on my wiki use the code keyword and insert the html for the code and chose colours HTML for the code options and all works well e.g. every thing looks like it did on the original article except for the images e.g. I get place holders as above.

Now if I click on the place holder it takes to me to the original image no issues (e.g. the URL is behind the place holder). What I want to be able to do is "display" the image on my wiki page without having to download the image from the original source then upload to my image galley or (as you kindly pointed out) go through all the image URL's on my wiki page and change the URL to the Tiki syntax for an external image.

if I have no choice but to use this latter option is there an automated way to replace the URL to the original image with the syntax Tiki expects to reference said external image (as there can be quite a few of them).

Thank you again
Ernie

Thanks for the reply ricks

I will write a little script to parse the html and update the reference to the Tiki friendly format before add to the
Copy to clipboard
section of the page.

Thank you
Ernie
