Problem installing tiki on a virtualmin administrated virtual server

Hi there,
I am trying to install tiki on a virtualmin administrated virtual server.
The installation breaks off after database creation with an internal server error (500)
I have no Idea how to fix this.

System: Strato vserver, webmin, virtualmin. I have root access to the server over ssh and should be able to reconfigure the system to make things work. Problem is I have no good Idea where to tweak.

Steps taken so far:
- installed the tiki directory structure into the public html folder.
- ran setup.sh (with commands V and f)
- ran tiki-install.php
As stated the installation breaks off after the database creation with an error 500
I am able to see the database in phpMyAdmin. And I was also able to log in as administrator and change the admin password. I was able to enter the profile section wizard. Tiki did not load the selected profile though.
The apache error log gives me
... End of script output before headers: tiki-install.php ...

Some more infos:
Last week I already had installed a working copy of tiki onto the same server. I then decided to scrap that installation and to use virtualmin for configuration. I thought this would be easier because I need to host a number of web applications on that server. These will be made accessible as subdomains.

Notable differences between the working installation from last week (ok) and the failing one today (bad):
- lamp stack installed from scratch via apt (ok) vs the virtualmin provided one (bad)
- tiki installed to apache2 defaultdocument root /var/www/ (ok) instead of the virtualmin configurated one. /home/tikiserver/public_html/
- http (and https) acces to tiki via myserver.de address (ok) vs tiki.myserver.de (bad)

One more detail that might be of interest: when running setup.sh on the failed install I did not use the script defaults for user and group but used the setting that I think is intended by the virtualmin configuration (tikiserver/tikiserver in this case)

Thanks for any comments ideas and suggestions!

Hi,
500 error can be wrong read/write permissions on files/dirs.
If you use .htaccess, check your RewriteBase path there.
Also check tiki-check.php if there is nothing suspicious.

I hope it gives some clues...

Thanks for answering. tiki-check.php is a real treasure.
I still haven't been able to solve the issue and decided to not waist any further time trying.
Instead I have now reverted the server back to the prior state without virtualmin.
I am now going to administrate the virtual hosts via webmin and ssl/terminal.
Installation went without problems this time.
