Documentation site layout

I am in the process of transferring some of the documentation of my company to Tikiwiki. I am however having a hard time in producing navigation tools for my users. I really like the look and feel of the new 1.8 documentation, can anyone give me some pointers on how this site layout was created?

Do you mean the templates and Style or the use of module layouts?

I mean the use of module layouts. I was hoping that these were somehow generated automatically.

I have been experimenting with structures and the {toc} tag, but I would like to have the TOC available all the time. Like the 1.8 documentation site.

Ok, the toc is available on any wiki page that belongs to a structure.

if you use {toc} on a wiki page itself it only shows the child pages.

As the to rest of the modules there, they are custom menus which you can make yourself through the admin->menu interface and then create a custom module to hold the menu through admin->modules

The rest is up to your own creative skills

But can I add a page that is part of a structure in a module?

So I can use {toc} to generate my TOC and show it all the time?

No. You would need to create a custom menu with the key pages or all the pages in that structure. Unless you want to write a little module to build a toc from a passed wiki page name. Actually thats a damn good idea!

I am pretty new to the Wiki world but I might give it a try. I take it that you are suggesting to create a plugin.
