shoutbox post causing error with tikiwiki modules and menus

Hello,

Someone posted to our shoutbox module and suddenly all of our side modules are gone. Also, any tabs in the tiki-admin.php menus are nonfunctional, so I can't get in to turn off the shoutbox.

Actually, I've had this come up before, and it seems to be someone putting in an URL into the shoutbox that somehow messes up the code.

Luckily I had a saved address in my browser for deleting a shoutbox post. It was a lucky short-cut around all the non-functioning and non-accessibility problems by going directly to that command. This time, however, I haven't been in to delete a post in too long and can't remember what the final bit to the address would be.

I've managed to fix part of the problem by turning off visibility of the left-side modules (which included the shoutbox), which brought back my right-side modules. But I still can't get in to turn off the shoutbox because I can't click on the tab that would take me to that part of the menu.

Could someone help either with the end of the address that would pop up if you clicked to delete the last shoutbox post, or some other help?

Thank you,
Jen

If you have access to the database, you can disable the module (look for the tiki_modules table). You can probably also edit the module's content (to remove the offending text. I don't recall the exact database table name, but look for something with shoutbox.

Thank you! I didn't even think of going into the database that way to edit. I was able to delete the module with no trouble, problem solved!

It makes me curious what it is about web addresses that causes that problem with Shoutbox, though.
