Selective HomePage

Hello again,
This is a ))HomePagequestion. Is it possible to assign a differentHomePagefor different groups? Specifically, since I am designing an Intranet site, anyone who is not registered should get a an announcement screen with no links inside TW. Registered users go to a different page. I have already turned off all modules for anonymous users, so there is no menus etc. However, my currentHomePage(( has internal links, and they do - off course - work whether you are registered or not.
TIA

Hi There,

Under the Admin->General tab is a checkbox for using group homepages. Once checked and saved, under admin->Groups you can type in a wiki page name and click the Set button. Then when a user in that group logs in they get that defined page.

If your user belongs to more than 1 group, under the admin->users you will need to choose the default group and again save.

Damian,
Yep that kinda works neutral. Except that when you add a new registered user, that user does NOT pick up on the group homepage. You then have to go in manually and SET the default group to (e.g. registered) although the system is already showing that.
That threw me for a loop there for a while smile.
However, I may be going about this the wrong way anyway. What is really needed is for anonymous users not to have ANY permissions, except to view a SINGLE html page, which would also be the default pag ethey come to when entering the URL. The way it is now, even with a bland 'please go away' homepage, you can crack the system by manually typing in, e.g. tiki-index.php or such.
Now, when I removed a permission from anonymous to view the tiki pages, my registered users could also no longer see the pages confused. I guess I don't really understand the permission system too well.

Hi,

I've tried this as well. I've disabled Use URI as Home Page and enabled User Group Pages. I set users to default groups and then set home pages for the various group which were blog pages and in all instances it used Wiki Home Page.

As an interesting aside, when I disabled Use URI as homepage, I didn't remove the url and when it tried to load home pages it sort of piggy backed the url as user uri/tiki homepage as one big url.

The group home pages I believe have to be Wiki page names. I cant remember if there was some change in that area or not tho. I may be wrong.

Damian,

I was worried that that might be the case. It's a pity because in my intended use of tiki a blog makes a lot of sense using latest posts to convey info which is something you could use a wiki page for, but not as well as a blog. For example, members of the staff group would see info on a staff meeting, but members of a student group would see info on a debating meeting. I suppose in this context blog = notice board.
