How to tikiwiki home page with nothing else

posts: 8633 Israel

Here what i'm trying to set :

From the user point, while getting in the front entrance the user get the wiki homepage in the middle and the login module. When logged the home page middle should change to articles.

So i have set wiki as home page, i have uncheck everything to get rid of all i can around the wiki home page. Some have deseapered as wished some not.

- I'm unable to get rid of the print, cached, refrsh icon at the top of the main box.
- I'm unable to get rid of the "created by...." under the box
- I'm unable to get rid of the "export' tile at the bottom

While logged,

The main part is still the wikihomepage.
- I can't make it goes to the articles.

The menu application show the Wiki item + wiki home and wiki send page. I don't want a user to see it.
- I have tried to change that under Admin, application menu. I even delete the Wiki item... no change.

I have read here, there... but...

Any direction appreciated :-)

PS : I hope it is the right forum, if not let me know.

You are actually in the wrong forum.

Yoni, if you want to do this you will have to dig into the template itself and change it accordingly. It is not difficult, but it would definitely help if you had some coding experience.

What you are looking for can be changed in templates/tiki_showpage.tpl.
The best way to experiment is to have a development TikiWiki running on your local computer, edit files (make backups!) and see what the result is.

Here's how I do it:

This is a line of code

I'll change this into:

{php}
// This is a line of code
{/php}

Another one:

This is a whole bunch of lines of codes
and it stretches out for more than one line

I'll change that into:

{php}
/*
This is a whole bunch of lines of codes
and it stretches out for more than one line

/*
{/php}

It basically comments out lines of codes in the way I'm used to (I used to code in PHP, but TikiWiki uses the Smarty engine and I'm unfamiliar with it). In my code editor it makes the code look green, easy to spot as commented out.

So save, look at the result. If you're not happy, uncomment and try again.

Good luck,
WillemB

Sorry.

I thought there could be a documentation i missed about wiki design or editing templates that's why i post here.

Thank you very much Willem for your explanation.
