RSS inbound feed does not work - is it because Tiki needs a proxy?

I have installed v1.7.8 internally where I work, and all seems fine (apart from Firefox/Mozilla on Solaris giving me tiny fonts, but that is another matter).

Except for RSS feeds. I have tried setting up a number of feeds. One internal, for which the "last updated" field gets updated, and a couple of external (The Register and Slashdot), which seem to never update. All three still contain no content.

Does anyone know (yet) what I need to do?

One thing I have done is to put proxy settings into my php.ini file and re-start the webserver - still no luck.

Can the webserver resolve the domains? Especially for the tiki one itself.

No, the webserver has no access to _real_ DNS. But IMHO it should not need it - it should be able to to use a proxy server to do the resolving and fetch the content...
