Use of '!' in links?

I'm using 1.9rc2 and when I try and have a link to something like FooBar! it doesn't work. Even when putting and around it.

I've tried a few different things, but can't seem to make it work. The issue is that it that the ! is part of a title and so I'd prefer to have it in there somehow.

(Hope I'm not asking stuff in a FAQ, but I couldn't find anything on first glance).

Page Names should really only contain characters.

Enable page descriptions and put the Foobar! in the page description.

I should be more specific. Is there a way to have a line of 'FooBar!' that points to 'FooBar'? I tried doing something like FooBar!. But that didn't seem to work. So I don't actually want the ! in the page name.
