Admin > General > General Settings > Disallow access to the site (except for those with permission): V

Use category permissions (tiki 1.9.x)

Please, as soon as http://edu.tikiwiki.org is up again (unluckily it seems to be down since soon ago), register also there and drop some lines about your case of study, interest, etc.

Heya,

I took your first suggestion and clicked the "Disallow access to site except for those with permission"... but now no one, including my admin-self, can get in.

Any suggestions anyone?

Which version of Tiki are you using?
For 1.9.1, it works great! (for 1.8.x, I also had troubles with that feature )
