Re: Re: Re: Re: Moving the module to the right...

Yeah, my conversion to a 100% table-less layout is still a work in progress. I'm about 50% from having a fully non-table TIKI layout. The toughest part is tracking down all the formatting that's done _outside_ of the TPL files. :-(

The trick to handling the right margin is to load the CSS file on the fly. My plan is to load first my base CSS then, if the left and/or right columns are active, cascade addition CSS files that handle the margins accordingly. Prehaps not the most elegent, but it seems to work (so far).

It's not that I like using tables particularly. In the case of my Planetfall adaptation, which isn't a full-page-width theme but rather a centered content area with empty page-background space on each side, I couldn't come up with an alternative to using tables to keep the content from overlapping the right margin in certain circumstances. This seems to be a common problem with dynamic content in table-free layouts, as shown by the vidiki theme at this site, for example. I agree that divs are the way to go in general, but I looked for quite a while and did a bunch of experiments but never did find a way to do something like a fluid-width Planetfall without tables. And another consideration in the case of the Planetfall topbar, as I mentioned, is that there is more than one object in the topbar, one of which must be kept to the left and one to the right, so giving their common parent an align property won't do the whole job.
