    Hi! Truly hope you can help me here.

    Over the past week or so, twice my tw site would display this error message: "TikiWiki is not properly set up: Unable to connect to the database !
    Go here to begin the installation process, if you haven't done so already.

    Access denied for user: 'xxxxx@localhost' (Using password: YES)"

    The first time, I upgraded from 1.9.1 to 1.9.2 and the error message disappeared.

    Why is this happening? What can I do to stop this problem?

    Hiya!

    This usually happens when the mysql server dies or is too busy to handle the requests for the tikiwiki site.

    Ill email you for further details as this is likely to be hosting specific.

    Thanks, Damian, for the help offline.

    Just to close this for others who might have similar problems — turns out that the problem was caused by a change of cpanel password which made the db password unrecognizable and database connection was not possible. :-p
