Why is email address being asked for at login?

Hi. I'd like to configure my Tiki so that it doesn't prompt the user for their email address in order to login. I want it to only prompt for the username and password, like tikiwiki.org does. How can I do this? Thanks!

P.S. Why does it even ask for the email address? I could understand, perhaps, if you were allowed to enter either your username or your passowrd, but it requires you to enter both.

just go into the admin section (by clicking on admin) and have a play with the login settings...

Yes, I understand how to look for options, the problem is that there is no obvious option for turning this on or off.

As it turns out, this "feature" is implicitly tied to the option for challenge/response authentication. If you turn off challenge/response authentication, then it stops asking you for the email address.

There is some oblique reference to this in the changelog.txt file that comes with the distribution, which is how I ultimately tracked it down.

You are correct. When challenge/response is enabled, the email address must be inputted. Unfortunately, there isn't a work around for that right now unless you turn off C/R. I'm not sure if anyone is working on fixing this.
