The registration mail can't be sent. Contact the administrator

posts: 3

Hello,

I have just set up the tikiwiki on my site, and am receiving this error when trying to register a "test" account (so I can see what normal users see):

The registration mail can't be sent. Contact the administrator

Now I'm fairly new to this, but other than the sender email section (which I've tried several different email addresses for) I'm not sure where else to look to troubleshoot that error. And it's a little cryptic for a novice like me to try and troubleshoot (there's so many new features here... I'm not sure where I'd start).

Any idea where else I'd go to troubleshoot this issue?

Do you have "Sender Email" set at tiki-admin.php?page=general ?

Yes, as I said in the original post... other than the Sender email section (which I've tried several different email addresses for) I'm not sure where else to look. So yeah, I have that set. It doesn't seem to make a difference. That's why I'm asking. :-(

I currently have it set up as needing a passcode to register, but that's obviously not the ideal setup I would like to have.

I am new to Tikiwiki and I am having the exact same problem as these folks. I have searched everywhere and I do see a few people with this problem, but no solutions.

My symptoms are identical: When I have e-mail validation turned on, when a user tries to register, they get the following message: The registration mail can't be sent. Contact the administrator

I know my e-mail from tikiwiki itself is working fine because I do get the e-mails that a new user registered, so it appears to be isolated to the registration component.

I have sending address setup with a valid account that matches my domain, and again, it works for everything but the registration piece.

If I turn off e-mail verification, the user registration process works fine.

I am running version 1.9.8 and the site is hosted at GoDaddy running off a MySQL database which also resides at GoDaddy. I just recopied all of the files down all over again, in case something was corrupt, but it did not help.

Thanks for any advise.

Hi -

I'm having the same problem, has anybody figured this out since December?

A couple of further observations:

When requiring e-mail validation of registration, the user gets the "Registration mail can't be sent" message, is added to the users, but can't log in. Presumably this is because the user can't return the registration e-mail, never having received it.

If I uncheck "Validate users by e-mail" in the Login module, registration works fine, but I'd much rather have the validation functioning.

Thx!

Adam

Some things to check:

  • Do you users employ a spam filter that is blocking your Tiki's email?
  • Does your Tiki send any emails? For example, if you watch a changed page, do you get an email?

you can open php.ini, and set the smtp,for example

SMTP = mail.yicike.com
smtp_port = 25

at last,please set the sender mail with same domain with upon.
