Jose, another thing that might interest you a lot is category permissions.
If you don't want your homepage to be blank (showing that palin message, etc.), you could assign all your content in your tiki to categories, which have the permission removed for anonymous to view them (anon. cannot view the pages, but only from registered onwards).

And thus, they will be prompted the login module in the central column to login, if they want to see anything else thant the header, or whatever modules with information you allowed anonymous to see. This would make that your intranet is still an intranet (with contents only viewable by registered users), but anonymous users could read the info about your company, contact details, etc. If that's your case...
