The problem is in the templates
Actually, further digging shows that the "45" is actually hardcoded into the template files. So, even tho changing the value in the PHP does/should work, the avatar is shown as 45x45 in the final display.
You'll need to edit all the TPL files that have this value hardcoded (and the smarty modifiers, and the associate library functions, etc.). Not a small job.
