Re: What Anonymous users can see
This is a fairly straight forward request, and Rick suggestions will stand you in good stead.
There are a couple of different techniques I use to achieve this type of thing. First is to enable group homepages (found under Admin->General). That way, you can set one homepage for anonymous users and another for registered users (everyone else)
Another possibility is to create a "Public" category, then put any pages you do want anonymous users to see in that category (ensuring you give the right permissions to the public category of course).
Either way, I don't think you should have any problem achieving this, it's something I do all the time.
