InterTiki and Apache authorization barrier

So it might well be that I am just being really dumb here, but in the intertiki docs one of the listed "Assumptions" is:

As of Tiki 3.0, the InterTiki master (and slaves?) must not exist behind an Apache authorization barrier.

Can anyone around here explain what that means to me and how I might check it? I've googled for it and come up without anything that meant something to me, asked the support staff of my hosting provider who were unable to provide any enlightenment and now frankly it is just bugging me. I think I'm fine but I can't get intertiki to play nicely for me and if it turns out this is the reason why maybe once I've been enlightened I can fix it. Or if not at least I'll know why I can't get it to go which would be a weight off my mind.

Hi,

I actually am on the intertiki and have some probs to get it running.

Did you solve your problem in the meantime and if, might I ask, how you got there finally?

Nope, never did. And when I tried to update to 3 the problems I faced were so severe (loss of images, file uploads, character formatting went out of the window etc etc) that I'm still stuck on 2.whatever waiting until I have a nice clear week or so to focus on it and nothing else and make the upgrade happen. Good luck with your problem and if you ever got the bottom do let me know how.

for shure I´d like to.

You anyway are welcome to contact me lateron, when you go back to the problem.

Either I have found a solution by then or we could start to work it out together.

Regards
Torsten

I updated the doc with what I think the person meant.

Hi Marc, thx,

Doc: "... Set the name of your target server as defined in the server name field of the master. ..."

Where I can find the field to define the server name on the server?
I at the moment can tell the server what name the client should have, but I cannot tell neither the server, nor the client what would be their own name.

I am confused on that.

You have an idea?
