installing on iPlanet/Solaris
my boss is infatuated with TikiWiki and wants it installed. that's fine until we look at our situation. because of corp. security issues, I have to run a web security client that is not available for Linux/Apache. this means I have to make it work on the following: Solaris with Sun iPlanet 4.x...
I followed the PHP installation instructions and proved that it works.
I followed the instructions in InstallTikiDoc. When I got to the "point your browswer at..." step, what I got was a blank page! (oooh, novel! I get to guess what the errors are!)
I then followed the advice of InstallTikiUnderSafeMode and found that PEAR was working OK. (Swoobadoo?) So far so good... Followed the advice on how to create the tables and all... Seemed to work (bear in mind that ALL of my web experience is with Perl/CGI scripts that I've written and do not know any MySQL or PHP — yet)... But when I tried to surf to tiki-install or index .php there was no love...
I recently purchased the O'Reilly PHP series and found out that I could run PHP from the command line... so I ran tiki-install.php and it seemed to work (at least it was generating output!) so I surfed back into tiki-install.php and got a form griping about no connection to the database. after fiddling with that, I got a screen to login as 'admin'. when i type in the default admin password, it gives me a screen wanting to either create a new database, convert one or "do nothing and just login". neither DB related action seems to do anything and the "do nothing and just login" link actually does just that — nothing.
anyone out there have any experience with installing this stuff on something other than IIS or Apache?
