I concur with Sylvie, I experienced a similar issue which I fixed by changing the encoding on my Database to UTF8. However, it is probably recommended that you store images in directories (folders) rather than the database, because over time your database will become huge and thus extremely difficult to backup.

BTW I took the liberty of uploading a test image, so if you see something about Wireless Adaptor that was me. Go ahead and delete it. ;)
