Would the upgrade to 6.x require a significant amount of "reconfiguration / downtime" to accept and be at our current "baseline"..?
Going from 3.6 to 3.8 should be quite painless and involve very little effort.
Going from 3.6 to 6.x is more involved. There were substantial changes between those releases (such as Tiki permissions, themes, etc.). I suggest reviewing the release notes and the version-specific doc pages to see what you'll need to reconfigure, based on the features you're using on your Tiki.
Please note that upon the release of Tiki 7, 6.x will become the LTS version and 3.x will no longer be in development. See Roadmap for details.
