Modules inside a div

posts: 8

I'm creating a homepage and I'm trying to have a left column with articles and a right column with modules for other features, but using the tools to create a wiki page I can't get those modules inside the HTML code for the columns.

I can make it look something like what I want with this:
{ARTICLES(max=>5,topicId=>!5,largefirstimage=>y, fullbody=>n, sort=>publishDate_desc)}{ARTICLES}
{MODULE(module="last_modif_pages",notitle="n",float="right",decoration="1")}{MODULE}
{MODULE(module="forums_last_posts",notitle="n",float="right")}{MODULE}

But it doesn't work as I want it too and I would like to know how can I have those modules inside a HTML code, or just get the code that those modules are made of to insert it as HTML.

I may be missing the point, but can you assign the modules themselves to the columns by going to Admin > Modules?

The modules that correspond to what you're looking for are Articles, Latest Changes, Newest Forum Posts. More information on assigning modules to columns can be found at Assigning Modules.

If you already know all of this and I've missed your point, just ask again.

I know, but I haven't found a way to use this for just the homepage, I just want those modules on the homepage and other pages to be without any columns.

Have you tried this when assigning the modules themselves:

  • For each module, set Page Filter so that it is only visible on ))HomePage((.
  • Then in Admin Home > Look & Feel > General Layout set it so that the left and right columns don't appear if there's no module (I think this is the default setting).

Thank you!, it works. Now to keep modifying my page and hopefully I'll be able to find some solution for changing the homepage and having toolbars for forum posts. I haven't found an answer for that as the buttons don't seem to change it

Glad that worked! Regarding toolbars for forum posts, is the Image icon at the top right of the post edit window not working? Also, what do you mean by changing the HomePage?

Thank you for all the answers.

I don't have any wrench near the posting form, No matter what I set the toolbar to, I keep getting the same form in the forums with no toolbar, and I've checked every related section I could in the Admin panel and I've nothing no enable it. Every other form in articles, wiki, and article comments seems to work. I've seen some people having the same issue but no answers.

Also, no matter what I set my homepage to, it keeps taking me to the wiki homepage, some people say that after doing it a couple of times it worked, but so far that hasn't worked for me, nor does assigning a specific url. I could always change the buttons manually to link where I want them to, but it would be nice to have the feature working without editing the code.

Aditionally, I've noticed that new users that I register are not linking to their profiles with their names in any part of the site, only the default admin account does.
