Folding Editor?

For a Tiki project, I need an intuitively-easy folding editor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folding_editor
or an Outliner that can allow folding.

CKEditor doesn't seem to have this capability.
The syntax editor allows for "hiding".
But what is needed must also include a numbering
system for sub entries. And needs GPL.

Suggestions as to what to look at would be appreciated.

Thanks

Don J.

Hi Don and welcome to the Tiki community! :-)

why don't you use standard wiki syntax such as:

This code:
^
!!-# foos

!!!-# foo1
bar1

!!!-# foo2
bar2

!!-# another foo
another bar
!!
^

Produces:

foos

[+]

1.2. another foo

[+]

Or similarly, in bulleted lists:

This code:
^
foos
*foo1
**- bar1

*foo2
**- bar2

another foo
*- another bar
^

Produces:

foos

another foo

Dear xavi,

Thanks for your reply. It seems to me that you have shown (in an elegant style!) how the syntax editor does "hiding". My problem is that I'm trying to design a "system" based on Tiki, in which the "system" has a WYSIWYG editor that will provide the hiding function as well as several numbering options, and can be used "right out of the box", without the usual learning curve. So the syntax editor's folds are not enough.

I've been searching in Google and Wikipedia, under the topics "Outliner", "Folding Editor", "Folding Text", and "Text Editor" with Folding Text capabilities. I've not found anything that will produce folding/unfolding text (i.e., collapse/expand) in HTML. In fact it looks like I would need DHTML (Dynamic HTML) or OPML or Outline Processor Markup Language.

I have some money that could be used to pay a Consultant to lead me to the promised land . . . or
to create the code that would do it {joke about "land",
no joke about "money"}.---- Don

Hi Don:

Thanks for your kind words.

I suggest that you contact some consultant (like jonnyb, he is the perfect consultant dfor what you are looking for). He's busy nowadays, but in a month or so he might be available to be hired, as far as I know.

See http://info.tiki.org/Consultants

Good luck

Xavi
