How do I send a blog post to a list of users I registered myself in tiki-adminusers.php

I use an outside RSS feed system to communicate with my Tiki subscribers.

I migrated every registered persons from my RSS System on my Tiki site.

I made sure my users were registered and belonging to a designed/pre-determined group I choose.

Then I sent a blog post to my new list of registered users and they did not receive my blog post.

Do they have to authentify themselves in order to receive my blog posts? How do I go about communicating to them to let them know I moved their subscription to tiki?

Will I have the same obstacle when I will sent an article to all?

I looked into this forum archives, in the doc.tiki.org side and could not find anything.

How to manage your registered users

Let's say your using another mail communication list system and you want to migrate your contacts to your tiki site. And let's say there are not too many (less than 50, 100 top) and you want to do the migration manually.

What

The process is fairly simple. It may take you a while but it's simple. Here is the capture screen of the Admin Users panel named: tiki-adminusers.php
adminusers

Fields to fill

User: Make up a name or use your contact's real name
Password (required): Enter a password, easy for the user who will receive the email to remember and recognise
Repeat Password: Of course, copy/paste here will make your life easier
Email: Enter the email address of the user

Which check box should be ticked on or off

By default, you'll notice that the "Send an email to the user in order to allow him to validate his account"
When you press enter is ticked on.
This means the person who owns the email address will receive a notification that looks very basic. Click on this thumbnail bellow.

How to modify the automated email message

Is it possible to modify these automated messages? Where are we changing the automated text?

You can change the message by modifying the appropriate template (TPL) file.

Thank you. I did find the Template folder.

We can see what this folder looks like by clicking on this icon

The question is now:

How do we find which of the Template we need to look into in order to personalize the text so that other tiki users can quickly *send a blog post to a list of users I registered myself in tiki-adminusers.php*

Here is a capture screen which shows the list of files in the Template folder of Tiki version 6:

If you enable the Smarty usage template indicator, the name of the template will appear in the email message. See the docs for details.

I'm not sure I understand.

I read the documentation on Smarties and found the folder where the templates are located. Yet, they are all in english and the automated response I'm receiving are in French.

a) Can I trouble you to let me know where the french text of these templates.

b) The documentation says that an adminstrator should not modify the default email messages being stored in the template main directory. Yet, this is what I entend to do. Where would one find the main mail messages in the language of our choice please?

English is the base language for all templates. To modify the French, you'll need to edit the ../lang/fr.php language file. Or better yet, create a custom.php in the ../fr/.. folder

Instead of modifying the default templates, you should always create your own, custom templates in your ../templates/styles/YOUR_STYLE/.. directory. This will make upgrades much easier.

In order to do what you suggest, one needs programming skills?

I have none.
In fact, I have no knowledge whatsoever about PHP and dB. Other than copy/paste to a wiki page that is as far as I have gone so far.

I went to your web site and looked for some information and could not find any.

Would you have a doc page where you can point me please so I can learn and apply what you suggest?

Tks.

Daniel.

If you simply want to change the French text in the messages, there's no programming skills needed.

You can manually make the changes in your ../lang/fr/custom.php file, or use the Customized String Translation feature in Tiki.\
