Replacing tiki menus with javascript navbars

Hi all,

I'm trying to develop a new page for a corporate site, hopefully to have the same look and feel. I'm using tiki because it takes care of some tricky bits like user registration and database storage.

Anyway, I'd like to duplicate the corporate sites navbar structure in my tiki web page, in the best case by including the link to the script somewhere, as in

Where would I include this link? In some sort of plugin tool within the tiki web page? Or by editing tiki-index.php directly? Is there some documentation on this - I haven't been able to find any.

Thanks again,

Sorry, the html code got filtered out. I was just giving an example of including javascript to implement the navbar. You probably don't need it.

Hi Rick,

Yes, thanks, I've been to those sections of the documentation. My question, though, was where do I actually include the code? I'm sorry that I need this to be spelled out for me.

United States

You can include the plugin just about anywhere...

  • in a wiki page
  • in a module
  • etc.

It depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

If you're creating a different menu system that you want to display on all pages, you can create a module and assign it to the top or topbar area.

Thanks, Rick!

I finally got it working. I created a custom module and posted my link to the javascript in the "data" box. Tiki said "be sure to preview before assigning". After giving up looking for a Preview button, I went ahead and assigned the module to the topbar. Then I was able to preview it and remove the stock menu bar.

It turned out to be a very simple procedure, once I'd finished exploring all the blind alleys.

I just updated JavaScript. If it doesn't answer all your questions, please follow-up here for clarification.

Best regards,

M ;-)
