Problems Seeing Images on Wiki Pages

New Tiki admin trying to get a site up with SSL required. Home page is a Wiki page that has an image on it. Images are stored both in the database and in a folder within the Files Gallery. All works fine while logged in as an Administrator. When logged in as Registered only the text on the page is there - no images. If give the Registered group permissions to edit Wiki pages then on some of the pages get the Edit icon for img Plugin. If you open it everything seems to be fine - fileID, etc. are shown - but no image is displayed.

Any ideas? Thanks.

If you can see the images as admin but not other users, then the problem is with your permissions.

  • Do the other user groups have permission to view and download images? Do they have access to the particular File Gallery?
  • Are you using categories for the File Gallery (or individual images)? Again, make sure the other groups have access to the category.

Please review the docs for details.

Thanks Rick. Giving the Registered group download permissions on the images fixed the problem. Why is the download permission needed if the image is just being used on a Wiki page and nowhere else? As a developer, that does not seem to make sense.

I am not currently using Categories but I intend to use them in the future, so it is good info to know that I will need to use download permissions there also.

Funny thing happened when I went to the link (review the docs) that was posted. When browsing "Permissions by section", two image links were broken :-). When I tried to refresh the page, I was sent to the "Tiki Installer Disabled" page??????? The only way to get back to the Permissions by section was to go back to doc.tiki.org and then click on links to get back.

Thanks again for the help Rick.

I believe that download refers simply to allowing the image to be transferred to the visitor's browser — not necessarily saved on their PC.

I'm not sure what happened to you on the Doc site...i can't duplicate your issue. Maybe just a momentary glitch?
