Content template with page tabs

posts: 10 Israel

hi,
I try to create a content template with page tabs.
For some reason when i edit a new wiki which was produced with the template it changes the pages from which the template was made.

I tried to replace the page in the tab with template content, but it didn't work.

Do you know how to get over this problem?
Regards,
Tzachi

Do you mean the TAB plugin? It is regular wiki syntax. I was unable to duplicate your issue on the Demo site. Can you re-create the problem, and include the specific steps.

Also, additional information would be helpful:

  • What Tiki version are you using?
  • Which editor are yo using?

hi Rick,
Thanks for taking the time.
I work on tiki 9.7.

I mean to PluginPageTab. it also uses (what seems to me from my very little experience as) regular wiki syntax.

For some reason i couldn't log in to the demo page you linked to (i tried my username and pass from here).

Anyhow, i try to explain:
1. i created few wiki pages, very simple ones.
2. I created a Content Template, using which looked as:

{PAGETABS(pages="Name1|Name2|Name3)}
{PATETABS}

i do get working tabs, although terribly slow, but they appear. For some reason they are not local, and mother page changes as i edit the page produced from the Content Template.

I updated this sample page using the PageTabs plugin. It does seem a bit slow to me, but I'm not sure what the issue is.

The "mother" page is simply the container:

Copy to clipboard
{PAGETABS(pages="Name1|Name2|Name3)} {PATETABS}

You need to make your actual content changes in the Name1, Name2, and Name3 pages.

hi Rick,
Thanks for the answer.
If i understand you properly than i did exactly that and then faced the problem.
I created content template in this way (with pagetabs), and then when i created a page from the content template and edited it, I changed the original pages, from which the template was made.
Did you manage to create content template with pagetabs, which its daughter pages won't affect the template?

Editing of the child pages works fine for me... it is correctly reflected in the main page.

For example, changes I made
http://demo.tiki.org/12x/page1

were correctly shown on the appropriate tab on http://demo.tiki.org/12x/sample+page+from+template

Is is possible that you're caching the parent page?

ok, no i see that i didn't explain my problem well.

The problem is that i want to keep the content template, which is build from pagetabs not affected when i edit the wiki i create from the template.

At the moment every time i edit the wiki i created from the content template i change the page from which the content template is made of.

i hope i'm clear now.

I don't understand your use-case. Referring to the demo I created here: http://demo.tiki.org/12x/sample+page+from+template

  • If you edit the Page1, the change will be reflected on the Page 1 tab.

  • If you edit content on the page Sample page from template, it does not get "pushed" back to the Page 1 page.

I simply edited the page. When editing, be sure not to change the plugin.

i don't use an editor, i use the 'edit' function of the page.

thank you Rick for taking the time.
when i click on the link i get a message that i need to log in, but i don't manage to get in :-(.
Never mind, i dropped the idea of pagetab. it's so slow that it discourages any wish to use it.

in any case thank you very much for answering!
