Group Workspaces

Greetings,

We need a collaborative development site for our research, I think Tiki is just the thing. We have many groups working in diverse projects (analysis, study development, data collection, etc...) with some members overlapping - I need to be able to control who has access to these "workspaces". The workspaces would contain several wiki page structures, file galleries, a calendar, forum and member list. The group home page looks promising for this, can I control access to the group pages and the group's resources?

Is there a better way to model this problem? Any suggestions for installing Tiki for multiple projects?

Much thanks for your time and expertise,
Chris

Hi

If the wiki pages are held in a Wiki Structure, then you assign permissions to the structure, otherwise you have to assign permissions to each and every wiki page.

I use a "very locked" tiki 1.8 installation at damosoft.net for managing customer projects, i.e. each customer has a wiki area for documentation, trackers for bug reporting, forums which shows cvs commits via the forum mailin function. also another forum for almost staff to staff support and others.

Each forum, wiki area or tracker is only visible to certain Groups and all permissions are set on the objects themselves rather than globalling through Admin->Groups.

Damien - this sound exactly what I want but I can't locate where to set permissions for a Wiki Structure ie I want to create a structure, assign permissions to a Team (Group) and have all pages created in the Wiki Structure automatically inherit these permissions. Where is this ahcieved?

TIA!!

Damian - I can't see this. I do not get an option to assign to structure - only to the page. In fact, the assign to 'page' is a submit button with no options.

I'm using version 1.8.2 on an FC1 system, Mozilla 1.7b browser (but I've checked in IE 6 and Konq.)

Is this a bug or am I still missing something? confused

Cheers, Julie

Does the page belong to the structure? On my damian.parkersworld.org I have a page called MyNotes which belongs to a structure. I see under the Assign Permissions heading:

Assign to group for (this page) (this structure)

1.8.2 as well on a FC1 too wink

Yes, it does. All the pages were created automatically when I created the structure. Weird though - I found the IRC support after I posted here this morning and Mose thought this was a 1.9 feature - not yet released. I guess our installs can't be quite the same. No matter - I'll wait for 1.9 Thanks for the heads up on the feature though! At least I can count on it being available before long.

Thanks, Julie

I too am not seeing the "assign to structure" using 1.8.4 with Mozilla 1.7.4

I do use glasses... should I buy new ones now?
