Menu Creation

With Tikiwiki version 17 the default menu item position increment is 10 as is recommended and this works fine.
This is before the drag and drop feature.

With version 20.1 the default increment is 1. One can change this but after a few menu items are created
the system goes haywire and the intervals are all set back to 1 again. Also the option or section settings all get changed.

This occurs on a totally fresh install as well as an upgrade on an existing database.

This makes it almost impossible to create a new menu unless you know exactly the structure before hand
and don't want to insert new items etc.

I tried importing a menu from version 17 into 20.1 but that didn't work either.

See the attached file for the "Potential (CSRF )" error message that triggers the resetting of the position numbers and the menu item type

Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have a solution please :-)

Hi Rod

Yes, we rebuilt the menu management in about Tiki 18 so it's now drag and drop, so you shouldn't need to specify the position number any more - and i think i fixed the import/export functions fairly recently so those should be better in 20.2, which is coming soon, but maybe you can try one of the nightly builds or svn/git checkout in the meantime if you do that sort of thing?

HI there Jonny

Oh great thanks .... not only is specifying position number not necessary it should be specifically warned against :-)
All my issues are now solved thanks :-)

Hi Rod

Glad you're ok on this now and hope you find it an improvement! Regarding warning against setting the position on options, i'd like to keep that as i use it sometimes when a menu has a million options (approximately) and i want to add one right at the end it's quicker to use the "create new option" button and specify position as 999 (say) so i don;'t have to drag it all the way down, but maybe a note on it saying it will be recalculated once you save the menu, or something?
