Tiki became very slow after initial install

Hi, I installed Tiki 1.9.RC2 yesterday night and everything was running fine. After playing around for a little while (didn't do anything special, really) the execution time jumped to average of 35 seconds. I did not modify caching options, so that can't be the cause of the problem. Below is the diagnostic line printed on the tiki page:
Execution time: 43.00 secs Memory usage: Unknown 10 database queries used GZIP Disabled Server load: 3.45

Any idea what the problem may be? How can I identify the bottleneck?

Wow! You already seen to have quite a heavy load on the machine running at 3.5.

Whats the spec of the system, memory and what is it running?

You will probably also want to install Turck-MMCache to get some PHP optimsation

I'm running on sourceforge's web server, so I don't know the exact spec of the machine. I was considering installing a php optimizer, but I'm pretty sure it's not the problem in this case... After all, tiki was generating pages in less than a second, when suddenly it had a change of heart biggrin

haha :-) We know SourceForge has speed problems. Tiki CVS area is a perfect example.

Dont think you can on SourceForge as Turck needs root access to get to the php.ini file and to install the lib.

From the InstallTIki is a Sourceforge installation page. We have a couple of sites running on SourceForge areas.

Whats in the process list for this computer, and what are the spec's? Are you running the database from the same disk? If on unix/linux what is iostat returning for swap usage on the disks?

This computer being the TikiWiki.org one?

another possibility is that your mysql server is running without a default my.cnf in the correct location. The server will run but it will run from a very generic template that is not suited to smaller/is machines. Instead try copying the $MYSQL/share/mysql/my-small.cnf to the /etc directory on the server and restart mysql and see where you get to.
